Hamilton's cultural landscape.
Working with the City of Hamilton’s Heritage and Urban Design section in the Department of Planning and Economic Development, ASI completed a cultural landscape study as part of the city’s Growth Related Integrated Development Strategy (GRIDS) initiative. Encompassing portions of the former historic townships of East and West Flamborough, Glanford, Ancaster, Binbrook and Saltfleet, the study identified heritage sensitive areas to be excluded from high-density land development. Such studies are becoming increasingly common amongst pro-active municipalities that wish to manage change in areas of rural heritage character.
